The extremely flat arching combined with relatively strong top and back thicknesses produce a powerful yet dark tone, a combination that many cellists seek. An instrument with a high recognition value thanks to its personal touch and probably one of the last signs of life of George Duncan, whose traces are lost after his emigration to Canada in the year 1890.
